Hey, I got another firesteel from DT the other day. I had him mount this on in a 38spl case for a handle. I HAD it (and may put it back) in my covered soap dish edc FAK. Got some band aids, couple gauze pads, a germ-x wipe and some OTC meds in it. I took the Fire steel, 2 inch bladed folding knife and 4 Petroleum Cotton balls in an old leatherman pouch.

But I think I am going to go to Firesteel.com and get some of the super strikers. I need three but think I will get 4, you know, just in case.

Oh hey, speaking about that site, did you look at that 1 inch thick, 6 inch long Fire Steel rod they've got! Man THAT thing is hugh! But Pitman wouldn't wear out that for a while! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

I may get some practice this weekend. When I was deer hunting I found a a huge chunk of fatwood that I wanna go collect some of.

The tree I was sitting on is an OLD pine tree, but it's smooth and not pitchy at all on the out side. I was knocking off a couple knots where I sit and found out that it's fatwood!

I was told the other day that wax paper works good too, just ball it up and light.

Corn chips work too. I remember that from Boy Scouts.
