Yup, wax paper, corn whips, ANYTHING with a high oil content. BUT the trick it getting it started burning. Heck I've even squirted some hand cleaner on a paper towel and it helped the paper burn longer.

I may get some practice this weekend. When I was deer hunting I found a a huge chunk of fatwood that I wanna go collect some of.

That would be nice. Do you remember all that nice looking fatwood Bushman5 used to put up pics of? Man he found some NICE stuff.

If I get up there and get it, I'll be sure to take pics.

When I was in the Boy Scouts, I'd carry a good sized candle and put in the bottom of the fire, light it, and build a tepee over it. Once that started, I'd pull the candle out and put it up for next time.

Those little tea candles would work for that too, and as cheap as they are I'd just leave them

I bought a small bag of fatwood from the Dollar store to put in my Mini-Bob. Now that I have an individual bag (IFAK from Arch) for my first aid stuff my 511 Push Pack is almost empty now. got room for tons of get home or get out stuff. Just gotta get a couple more things and I will at least have all the basics covered.

I've actually got a couple tea type (but about three times as thick) in my mini/bob.

Oh and Congratulations on 17K! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />

That should be "I bought a small bag OF FATWOOD" It has 6 sticks about a half inch square and 6 inches long. Oh and I've got 3 light sticks in there too. Two 12 hour and 1 30 minute.

Made it with a little time to spare. I was just hoping to get there by the end of the night tonight.

Nothing works like flicking your Bic LOL. I know those things tear up and all, but I keep a few handy just because I'm NOT good at building a fire.

When I build a campfire, I'm often aided by charcoal lighter fluid.

That's why I'm wanting to get some PJ cotton balls and such, and try to work on it.
