Can't say that I blame you. I get out of mine pretty quick in the mornings, and I'm just in uniform pants and a polo shirt.

They used to have us wear full uniforms, til someone stopped to eat on the way to work in uniform and got accused of being a deputy that was goofing off.

There was a little more to it than than, but that was the gist of it.

I'm glad, myself. I hate wearing a tie.

I had to get the armor of. Thats some uncomfortable stuff. I swear what I had in 92 was better than this.

We don't have to wear armor, thank God. I'd go crazy. But we do sit behind bullet proof glass and kevlar walls.

I won't go out without it. But the newst vest they gave me is a POS. I hate it with a passion. They went with the cheapest crap they could find. If I didn't have a ton of medical bills coming up I would order a nice one on my dime.

If I were on the road, no way would I work without it. But since I'm inside....

Only thing I worry about is wearing my uniform to work and stopping at the store and such. Someone may think I'm a soft target because I don't carry a gun. (That they can see)

That's also the reason I carry concealled. All the time.

I have a take home. So to and from work I go straight home. No stopping for milk or beer.

Some of our guys will stop at the local stores, but no going into a supermarket or Walmart. I don't think anything would be said, as long as they weren't frequenting the beer and wine aisle, but most of them hit the convienence stores on their way if they stop at all.
