Nope not really, only when there is a major rain storm coming it reaches 25km per hour (about).

Other part of the country (Cape Town) can reach up to 65km/hour.

That is pretty much it really. No hurricane type winds or such, we dont have earth quakes as well.

Folks would be surprised at how much damage nothing but straight high speed winds can be.

I think we can be fortunate here. Not many natural disasters (yet? who knows)

Yep, they usually get confused with a tornado around here. The weather guys come out and look for twisting of trees vs. pushing all the trees in the same direction. That's the biggest giveaway.

Damaging storms is one reason I don't like Spring.

Yeah, that's the worst thing about spring time.

Working something like that can be VERY taxing, specially on 12 hour shifts.
