Well that is stupid too, in my opinion. IF it was (or is ) the law in a certain country I can not argue that fact, other than to say by WESTERN, read that as "Non Muslim", standards it is stupid!

To me using religion to justify an evil act is one of the worst forms of cowardice.
It is a method of removing the responsability for the evil from oneself and either placing the blame on your victim and/or your religious teachings thereby removing the evil

Whenever you have some power over others, it is VERY VERY difficult to not, in time, to consider it your "Right" or that the laws you are applying to "Them" does not apply to you. It is something you must always be aware of until it becomes automatic for you to NOT think that way any more.

The guy that murdered his ex and daughters is in Ontario. The local case was a girl that grew up here but was murdered in India, the Indian government just filed for exrtadition last week, as they have just laid the charges now. Honour killings over such things as insuficient dowries is still a problem in India that is not going away

Just like one day the daughter asked the mother why she always cut off part of each end of a ham when she baked it. Mom said "Well that is the way Grandma always did it". One day Mom asked Grandma (her mom) why. Grandma/mom said "The hams were always to fit in the pan"!

I am a big believer that when you come to my country you obey our laws or don't come.
If I go to your country I will obey yours, HOWEVER if I have a moral objection to your laws I will not visit your country.
One thing I never understood here in Canada many of our left of center politicians (and people) constantly opposed our involvement in Afganistan. Then they were among the first to protest the killings of girls going to school and other acts against women.
