Well that is stupid too, in my opinion. IF it was (or is ) the law in a certain country I can not argue that fact, other than to say by WESTERN, read that as "Non Muslim", standards it is stupid! The guy that murdered his ex and daughters is in Ontario. The local case was a girl that grew up here but was murdered in India, the Indian government just filed for exrtadition last week, as they have just laid the charges now. Honour killings over such things as insuficient dowries is still a problem in India that is not going away I gathered it happened up there, I was just making a point that even though I DO NOT agree with many "Foreign" laws, I can't really dispute anything as they are the Laws OF THAT COUNTRY, not mine. In general I agree

I am a big believer that when you come to my country you obey our laws or don't come.
If I go to your country I will obey yours, HOWEVER if I have a moral objection to your laws I will not visit your country.
One thing I never understood here in Canada many of our left of center politicians (and people) constantly opposed our involvement in Afganistan. Then they were among the first to protest the killings of girls going to school and other acts against women. I agree with you 100 percent. I will go one step farther, even if I visit your country, not liking your laws, I will be and SHOULD be subject to those laws, not the laws of MY country. that is true as well

Bill and I discussing what could be volatile subjects just goes to prove that Nationalities, Religions beliefs/non beliefs has no bearing on people believing in what is good and right, Morally! It is only when people force their views (if they are different) on others that there is a problem.

Morning guys, some light hearted convo going on in the yard this early in the morning <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> Good morning, occasionally Randy and I get into these serious discussions. I don't know of any other forum or for that matter many places in the "real world" where we can have these conversations in such a civil matter.

And I may not have said that good enough to get my point across. Basically what I am saying is that "Good" people are good people no matter where they come from or what they believe or don't believe. We often (Incorrectly) say "Blank" are wrong or bad, when what we actually mean is "The leadership", not the Ordinary people who for the most part just want to be left alone to live their lives in peace with others.

Which is funny, because typically on the Internet, conversations of this sort usually degrade indue to the anonymity of the computer screen, I think it says a lot about the community here and the people that they can be held civilly

Jared I really enjoy these conversations for a number of reasons. I feel comfortable enough with Randy to ask him questions, I have on occasion asked him about subjects in pm's about religious matters. We don't have to agree, only treat each other with respect

I WISH that we were all just one world, with no countries/boundaries to "Get in the way". But Of course I would want OUR laws to rule as I think they are for the most part the best. But that is just not being realistic.
