I've never had anything done to my knee, but my right knee will pop out of socket from time to time and it's agonizing. I'll end up having it worked on someday, my doc says.

Mine was an intermitent problem that started in April. But I have nearly no cartildge on my kneecap itself. They didn't realize that when they did the MRI. They thought it was just a tear. It looks like shredded pork once they got a camera in there.
They want to do some crazy stuff to fix it. Honestly I would rather just have a fake kneecap thrown in and be done with it.

[censored], knee problems are a major pain. I also struggled with my knees due to my weight. Was 286 pounds. Down to 215 today. No more pain. Took me 4 years. Swimming is a great, no impact full body workout. I also started doing bodyweight training. There is a website globalbodyweight (I think) that got me started with these last few pounds.
Excersising out side really does help. Ni gym fees, fresh air. I feel the pain for you guys. Inside for to long and depression starts. The hardest part of getting out there is the first 2 weeks. But it is so worth it.

Good luck with that knee and I know you will get back out there!

never had any knee problems but starting to worry lately. my dad used to complain about his knees and the air conditioner running too cold. over the last year I noticed that if I let the air run cold while I'm sleeping when I wake up both my knees will pop. not just any old popping... its actually very loud. like bone breaking loud. no pain but man it's freaky to hear something on your body pop like that.

biggest i have been was around 235. at 6'3" i never saw it as being that much but I saw the gut and lost 20 pounds just for that. was supposed to start working out to get rid of the other 15 and put on some muscle last year. just never got full steam. hope to give it another shot this year but still keep putting it off.

Too cold air is not good for ones joints. Ideally when one has some joint pain alternating between hot and cold is the best way to go. Maybe try to sleep without the aircon and just fan for one night and see what happens?
Congrats on losing the gut! Aparrently it reduces the risk of heart attack by 60 percent according to my GP.

funny thing is I started working out some last year and after about a week or so into oneI got up to grab something to eat. I was pretty hungry and pretty much wiped out everything I had in the kitchen for that whole week.. forgot about the whole metabolism thing and the fact that I was goning to need more fuel if I was going to be burning that much more energy. sad but true... I just couldn't afford to get in to shape at that time. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/paperbag.gif" alt="" />

I'm usually fine with the ac. just every now an then all things align like the sun not coming out that day so it gets cooler than expected. that's when I wake up to... snap! snap! maybe once or twice every couple months. pretty loud and sounds like it should hurt but doesn't. just have to be more causious and I'm not taking take it too lightly. don't ever want to have shot knees even though one of the has some issues from a childhood accident. I just take care to not stress it more than I should. also been working right so far... knock on wood!

Jip, getting in shape requires a different diet and eating healthy can be expensive. A balanced diet and nutrition is very important. I learned that the hard way last year. Malnutrition resulted in a hospital trip.
