Okay, I'm back.

I get it about the humidity. I'm from the San Joaquin Valley in California which has ZERO humidity and the humidity here is something I can never get used to. Pensacola is the only place that I've been to with higher humidity.

I was in the New River/Camp Lejeune area for a time. Is the climate the same in your location?

Not really. We're up in the foothills, right at the east side of the mountains. We're hot and fairly humid, but it's bearable most of the time. July and August are rough though.

I was there for a hurricane in 1998 but I can't remember the name of it.

I can do without hurricanes too. I've been through a couple and if I never see another one I'll be just fine.

I was posted in the barracks at one of the fire escapes with a web belt tied around the handle and to my wrist to keep it closed. We couldn't just lock it because it was a fire escape. Every few minutes the low pressure outside would jerk the door open and me with it. Fun times.

I've been through three. One there and two here. I'm with you, no more for me please.

Sounds like a pretty good storm. Don't remember the name of it back then. Biggest to me was Hugo in '89. It tore up Jack all the way up here, 200 miles from the coast.

I don't remember dealing with hurricanes when I lived there. Probably to far inland.
