I don't carry a poncho or a raincoat typically, but I do carry some big trash bags that could be pressed into service as a poncho.

The poncho would pull double duty. A shelter and rain gear. A little paracord and you have a way to get out of the wind and rain.

I've learned a lot about stuff like that over the past few years. I always carry paracord now, at least 50 ft. Just too many uses to not carry some.

Did you see the tv show about the Doomsday Preppers that's coming on in Feb?

I thought I was pretty clever when I was in the Army. I have learned a lot of stuff between then and now. The only thing I had going into the army was field craft. I practically lived in the woods growing up. I could trap, hunt, fish, track and shoot way above what you would expect out of kid that age.

But I have learned so much more about general field craft since then. And I am still learning.

I have seen the previews. It airs when I'm working. I'm curious to see the spin they put on it.

From what I saw, they show the preppers as being slightly "out there"

I think there may be some good info, but I'll get ill if they're making fun of people for being prepared.

I hope they have some normal folks. I can guarantee they will have varying degrees of ones off their rocker.

Not only that, but the producers will probably try to make a laughing stock of everyone on there.

They'll wanna be entertaining for the masses, instead for those who would like to learn
