Hey Todd pretty soon you will be hitting the 20K club Hi Bill! Yep, won't be long. But the sad thing is that I'll STILL have half as many posts as Randy!

I'd bet the AR-10 would be a good deer rifle too, especially in my neck of the woods.

We'd have to break Randy's fingers for anyone to have a chance at catching him now, it looks like!

I had a mini 14, it was fun to play with but I am not a fan of the 223 for hunting deer.
That is right here in crazy Canada a mini-14 (or M1) is non-restricted, but an AR 15 is restricted. Go Figure

If we ever got hogs up here (hopefully never) I figure my winchester 94 in 450 marlin would be perfect

always liked the idea of 7.62 over .223 myself which is why I think .300 is so attractive to me right now. none of the 7.62 or .308 hassle:s in a AR15 package. I'm seeing a few guys taking to it down here. also a good bit of surpressor talk when it comes to aac.

The firearms license I have allows me to own, borrow, buy and sell non-restricted (most rifles and shotguns) and restricted (most types of pistols)

I never have been fond of semi-autos for hunting. I grew up mostly shooting lever actions, but now I use bolt actions and levers about equally

I prefer a larger round for a battle rifle. I like the Ar platform because I have been using one for a living since I was 17 years old. So its familiar. My favorite hunting rifle is a 45/70 guide gun. Not practical for a lot of what I do but I love that thing.

My 450 is a weakness, the model 94 timber is a rare rifle and I really shouldn't use it, but man I love it. In norther BC my 338 winmag is more practical, but the 450 gets way more trail time

I thought long and hard about that when I first saw a grizzly while hunting
