Here you have to get a background and fingerprint check ($90.50) and take an 8 hour class from a civilian firearms instructor on carry laws and lawful/unlawful use of your weapon, pass the written and shooting (from 7 yards) and you're pretty much good to go. Permit is good for 3 years.

My Utah permit took about 3 hours (class and shooting) no test except he made sure I could handle a gun, Background check took two weeks for the permit to get here.

About 2 weeks here as well, then go to the license bureau to get the endorsement n your license and you're done for three years.

Too bad it takes forever to get my [censored] silencer

That reminds me. I was at the range the other day talking to the owner about the Sparrow. I called it a silencer. I random kid (I call him that since he looked like he was 23ish) walked up and said "it is a suppressor not a silencer."

Yeah that sucks

I remember reading that(about the kid "Correcting you"). When talking specifics, I try and be as accurate as possible for clarity's sake, but when just talking among folks that know, generic terms are fine. Silencer is just a generic term to me, just like here we use "Coke" when asking someone if they want a soft drink. Then if they do we ask what kind.

I talked with a guy at the range the other day. He got his stamp a few months ago. it took him a year.,
