How well would a 556/223 supressor work on a 22lr round. I thought it would be nice having a one for two deal.
I would imagine it would work well. But, for me it isn't something I would pay the extra money for, for the same reason I reject the idea of putting the Sparrow on a Five Seven, which the Sparrow is rated for too. A Five Seven round is 40 grains as are some 22LR rounds. The advantage of a Five Seven and 5.56 is the shape of the round, full metal jacket and most importantly the velocity. For a suppressor to work well, you would have to slow the round down to 22LR speeds, subsonic. Just use a 22Lr in that case. Yes, a suppressor will quiet down a supersonic round's pop, but the ballistic crack will still be there.
