Ok, I have talked a lot about the "Negrito hunting bolo" I bought while stationed in the Philippines in '75 or '76, the expensive one, $2.50! Well here it is. Pics are not the best but best I can figure out how to do.

Over all it's about 14 1/2 inches long with a 9 1/2 inch blade. I made the choil myself with a dremel tool. Not to hard as this is a leaf spring from some junked vehicle, probably from the base land fill. the Brass for the guard and butt cap I was told was from melted down 20MM brass shell casings and the aluminum spacers probably from scavenged aircraft "Skin" The handle is leather washers made from water buffalo hide. I wrapped it partly in a material I bought over 25 years ago called "A grip". It's a tape that Basically feels like moleskin but was made to wrap around handgun grips.
Here's another picture that more accurately shows the look of the steel after all these years in dust, dirt, grime, heat and humidity and just generally left laying around and only wiped off with a cloth and a scotch brite pad once in a while. Oh the sheath I had made by a shoe shop in Lubbock Texas around 1978.

Before I got into more expensive knives it was my primary chopper and didn't to very well at that, WAY to soft. But it sharpened up easily so it wasn't all that bad I guess.
I then got another 9 1/2 inch blade that was a really nice chopper. Used that for about 22 years until I got into Dan's blades. Best decision I ever made. Even my Milreg and Bulldog reg will chop circles around either of the other blades. And when I had the Dogfather, well nothing else needs to be said. I'll miss the DF, at least until I get my 911. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />
