The Kaiser blades I have used all had handles a tad over 3 feet long, and the blade was around 18 inches, made for a good long reaching tool.

Those were also called "ditch bank blades", or cutters. They are used for cutting along embankments - the reason for the longer handles. Great for trimming by my pond too! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

Some folks call 'em a Kaiser blade, but I call 'em a sling blade. Mmmmmm.

We used to use a scythe for clearing ditches and along fence rows where a brush hog couldn't get.

Almost done, I've never built anything from scratch before, with no plans, just an idea, very rewarding

NICE JJ!

MB, Our neighbor has one of those displayed on the wall of her back porch, but yours is missing a handle.

Just when I think things MIGHT calm down, E911 call, man and woman (DRUNKS) fighting! AND a deputy was just out there not more than 30 minutes ago and told them if we get a call back to there they're going to jail!

My work week is rapidly coming to a close. My relief will be here any minute, so I bid you all adieu until later.

May you have a happy, safe and joyous Easter and fully enjoy the day and all it means, family, friends and faith

Peace and rest to you and all those you hold in your heart. May God truly bless and give you all that you need in your lives.
