NO, my father has a bench one that has a 4 inch wide belt and a 6 inch disk. Not the best for what I did, but it worked ok by going slowly. You CAN do it by hand, but it will take you a long time. Oh and for making the choil bigger, I just used a round file and sandpaper.

A dremel tool would work really nice also if you used a sanding drum on it.

no I do a bit of experience with dremel, I have one similar

Of course, I got woke up REAL good yesterday morning on the way home. It was about 48 degrees. My legs were about numb when I pulled in the drive. Rest of me was ok, I had a jacket and gloves, but nothing on my lower legs.
