Or open her aperture up one stop, like from f5.6 down to f4; OR lower her shutter speed by a stop to allow more light in, such as going from 1/320 to 1/160.

Just think of light as being like water. You want the same amount of water to come through the opening all the time (perfect exposure)

More light = smaller aperture OR faster shutter speed.
Less light = larger aperture OR slower shutter speed.

And the variable is the ISO, or what amounts to film speed. You can use a higher ISO in lower light in place of a larger aperture or slow shutter speed.

That's where Canon has whipped Nikon over the past years, until just recently. Canon has had the market cornered on high ISO sensors, but Nikon is equal to them now. (Or maybe even a little better, or so I hear)

She is just starting to understand all this, ISO speed, F stop setting shutter speed.

I just read a review on them multipliers and the guy said that actually, In cases of most of the lenses like hers, you will be better off cropping (enlarging) your picture than actually using the converter. You'll get better sharpness and truer "Colors".

Hey, no sweat Todd. I still remember some about ISO (Film speed) f Stops and shutter speeds from my newspaper picture taking days with my old Manual Honeywell Pentax Sp500.

Best advice I can give about photography is to be well read. Believe it or not, the Photography for Dummies book was a great help when I was getting started.

Cropping is better than cheap multipliers. That's true. But a good multiplier is better than cropping.

It's hard to get good glass in a multiplier for $39.95, if you know what I mean.

I think the multipliers I have were around $125 each, IIRC. And that was used.
