We never went without electricity, nor indoor plumbing. But my great grandmother lived right below us, and when we built our house in 1973 we ran a water line to her front porch so she didn't have to carry it from the spring any more.

She never had indoor plumbing. She passed in 1987 or 88.

I remember using her outhouse when I was growing up. Also remember her cooking on a woodstove, even when it was miserable hot outside.
