think the regulator grip will be perfect on big sr101 khukri... I have asking for one for a while. I call it "khujo". half dogfather meets busse mojo recurve but more curve and bigger.

I don't get the whole cost thing with a Kukri, how come Cold Steel can sell them for under $20 ?
Sure their steel and heat-treat ain't as good as used by the Yard or Swamp but surely four or five times the cost would cover it ?

The Ka-Bar Kukri with better steel, heat treat and fit/finish than the Cold Steel still sells for under $50.

Becker Knife and Tool are talking bringing their version out again which would likely be better than the Ka-Bar ( although both companies are now merged ) and I believe the price point will be well under $90.

So is a reasonably priced Scrap Kuk outta Dan's awesome SR-77 possible......I'd think so !!!

The CS kukri is a machete. If you look at the CS Ghurka model it's $300 or so

If you look at the CS Ghurka model it's $300 or so Not really sure how they classify the other Kukri models as Machetes, surely machete refers to a blade style and not the thickness. The Ka-Bar and Becker are definitely full thickness. I think a thin Kukri would be more useful than a thick one anyway.

Well, ( I think) technically if it's not made in Nepal ( and hand forged) it's not a kukri, it s KLO ( kukri like object) so I think at that point they can call it whatever they want, but I do believe Cold steel classifies their cheaper kukris as machetes

I have been waiting to try a Khukri design and a Yard version would be perfect!

I know very little about kuks- the tamang in the picture is my only one. The things I like about it though include the milder bend- remains pretty stabby! And it's not crazy thick...thicker than my Battle Rat, but not by a lot. It's very fast in hand, chops green wood better than the BR and isn't heavy.
I think the regulator handle with a flare at the bottom would be sweet. Think a kuk by Dan could be the only chopper to kick my Battle Rat out of it's spot as my #1 chopper!

If there will be a scrapyard Kukri I certainly would buy atleast one !
But if Dan makes one I hope it will be a beast, thick, razorsharp,resiprene-c handles and maybe the use some of the research that was made by other knifemakers.
If I remember right Cold steel made a study about kukri's with the result of 4 types:
*The ghurka kukri (more fighting blade)
* the kukri LTC (light terrain chopper)
* the kukri HTC (Heavy terrain chopper)
* the kukri ATC ( all terrain chopper)

They tested how wide the front curve must be to get the right balance for the needs...
