I have a Scrapivore and like it a lot. I carry it as a neck knife in a Mashed Cat sheath and it's great. I like the prybar end, but it does tend to dig in to my palm some with use. I find I am preferring my Izula because of this. But I like how long the Scrapper holds an edge compared to ESEE's 1095.

I am thinking about taking my Dremel to the end of the Scrapper and just rounding it off. Has anyone ever done this? If so, any input on how to go about it? I have access to a vise so I am thinking it can't be that difficult. The only problem will be the coating. Mine is Desert Sage so I guess I'd have to strip it or send it in to be re-coated?

I have a jungle green scrapivore and found I have the same issue with the prybar digging in way much. I have been thinking of some nondestructive ways to deal with the problem myself. I would like to find some of the stuff they use to dip tool handles in. I've seen one brand called plasti dip but want to look at some other options as well. I also thought about some type of kydex end cap or maybe even the possibility of a kydex handle of some sort. another option I considered was to try to paracord wrap the handle and put some epoxy on the wrap over the end and maybe try to wrap a second layer over that or something.

haven't tried anything but if you can handle a dremel and can mix epoxy then I'm thinking there may not be enough reason to remove any steel.

I hadn't thought about the tool dip. I can pick that up at the local hardware store. I could probably strip the whole knife, smooth out the prybar end and then just dip the handle, leaving the blade naked. Hmmm...

I'd like to see how it turns out. I've seen similar things done for the hest prybar. I thought another option would be ti round off the cirner on a belt sander.

I dipped it but should stuck with the plan to dip the handle up to the lanyard hole an then dip it a second time up to the first grind. instead I dipped the whole thing. first coat looked thinso I dipped again but kept dipping it in and out a few times. that added up to more weight than most are probably going to want on a necker.

I let it dry some and started seeing what I could do to shape the handle. not much without screwing up a neat finish. i plan to trim it up and maybe see what happens withsome loft sandpaper bit this it where it is now. plan to leave it to dry for the rest of the day.

phone would only take blurry pics...

I see what you men lazi, I bet that is a lot more comfortable, but Yeah it might be a bit to heavy for some. Like you said, maybe just cover up to the lanyard hole near the prybar end, TWICE at most then dip the rest up to where you got it now once (that would make it a total of three times up to the lanyard hole).

went back to look at it and the coating has thinned down a lot. looks like that thickness is the kind of coat most guys might actually want may even want it thicker. still see the shape of the handle corners and prybar it pads the prybar just enough to keep it from digging in. I still see the outline of the lanyard hole as well. the prybar would still work fine for something like a dried on paint can.

I'm thinking the coolest way to keep it looking good would be to dip the prybar then let that get fairly dry. then dip half of the handle and let that get dry enough to trim off the drip off with scissors. then either dip it just over that half, dry, and do a paracord wrap or dip it up to the first grind (at a angle like in the pic) and then be done with it. when you dip it in the first time probably push it in and out a few times to make sure that is the thickest coat that goes on. and then just in and out once twice for the last coat. I this would create a nice slight taper towards the rear. you will probably still feel the same area where the handle digs in but it's just not digging in anymore. if it is still annoying you can always dip it again. and this stuff seems like you can break through it and peel it off pretty easy so starting over shouldn't be an issue.

more pics when its completely dry...

here's the handle completely dry now. I was thinking this stuff would dry thick like what I see on my other tools but it dries pretty thin. which is actually fine for this particular application as the prybar is no longer a issue and but still remain quite useful since it has the same angle and is still intact under the rubber.

since the main issue I was having seems to be cured I will leave my scrapivore like this for a while. at some point I suspect I will either trim off some of the material and put a neater coat over this one or I may peel it all off and just dip half the handle so i can wrap everything with od green paracord.

I just received my first scrapivore, and I really dig it! Will post some pics once I and done wrapping it in paracord and making a sheath for it.

As for the prypar digging in to your hand, my advice will be:
If you have a righthanded one, order a lefty instead...
