I have a glock 22 gen 3 on order at a local shop. I want to add tritium night sights and get a light or light laser to put on the front rail for night use.
trijicon seems to be the best tritium sight from review but and thoughts.
for the front light I am looking at SureFire, Streamlight, and insight technology.
I want a led that is brighter that 100 lumen and will run for more than 2 hours.
the laser would be nice but isn't a need. any experience with lights are other brands? sound off!

I have used a few of said products. Pushing more than 100 lumens on one or two CR123A batteries is going to hard to find in a light.

Streamlight's TLR-1s claims 160 lumens for 2.5 hours. Mine runs more like 2 hours.

Surefire's X300 claims 170 lumens for 2.4 hours. Mine runs more like 2 hours.

Both are good, solid and dependable lights, but the price is one factor that makes the Streamlight the best choice. The X300 is nearly $300 in some places and the cheapest I have seen it is on opticsplanet.com for $210. You can get the TLR-1s for $100 less at the same site.

Both attach and operate in the same manner, except the Streamlight has a strobe setting. This is the second reason I suggest the Streamlight. Strobes are the perfect thing to disorient a bad guy.

As for lasers - Both companies make a model with built in lasers for a little more money. Since you have the Gen 3, you can always replace the recoil spring with the Lasermax sight. It is pretty awesome having a laser internally integrated.

Trijicon and Truglo are the only two tritiums I have used and both are excellent.

I have used several different night sights and like the Truglo the best--they have lasted longer for me. As to a light, I like the Streamlight/Insight since they can do double duty as a rifle light. No reason to spend the extra coin on a Surefire when the Streamlight/Insight does the same job AND you can get a SY blade with the savings.

We use the Streamlight on our G-22's. I do not carry one though. Too many problems with the Gen 3's and lights. Some of them tend to malfunction with a light attached.

If you do run a light on it make sure to practice with the light attached to make sure yours doesn't have that issue.

Jj's advice is spot on. Stream light is a great performer to price and trijcon are awesome as well.

Gun Dog i have the true glow n/s on my 36 and they work out very well, my 17 has standard glock n/s on it , my 36 is green front and yellow rear i really like the collar contrast. as far as lights go i prefer a handheld light i believe i can be more effective this way than a gun mounted light, how ever having one set up for the head board with a light for those with lesser skills is i think a good way to go. not saying i am right but for me it works.

I prefer the SureFire...I just don't trust any other brand when it gets down to the important stuff.

If you can get a gen 4 for the same price I would do that as well. The grip is grippier and I prefer the wider mag release.

I always add a 3.5 pound connector and a stainless guide rod. If you haven't tried the guide rod you must. More accurate and follow up shots are much quicker.

The trigger on the Gen 4 seems to be lighter and crisper than the Gen 1,2,3. Part of it is a different connector that is like 4.0 instead of 5. I dropped a factory 3.5 connector in my Gen 4 and could not tell the difference between the Gen 4 one and it. I would also recommend the .25 cent trigger job if you get a Glock--easy and smooth.

I have both and now that you mention it agree.

I got the gen 3 because all the problems with the gen 4. Also the gen 4 is a lot harder to pull back which would be bad for my mom and sister in a home D role. I might get the gen4 some day but not Intill I see more positive and consistent reviews.

I am also thinking about holster options. I am just over 6ft and weigh about 195lb I want one ccw type holster and one drop leg or modular system like the Blackhawk! Serpa series any ideas?
