This is my first attempt at making anything out of leather. I have modified a few things, but never started from scratch. I hit up the local Tandy Leather Store and a sweet little old lady helped me get the right stuff. She even helped me decide how to decorate it. When she asked what kind of pistol it was for, I showed her. She noticed the zombie hunter patch on my bag as I pulled the weapon out. She also had already heard I need the holster to accommodate a silencer. She put two and two together and said "zombies are ugly, so you should make the holster ugly." I put a light coat of black stain on it and made it splotchy by rubbing random patterns with more stain on my fingers. I then scratched it up with a knife to give it a beat up look. If you look closely, you can see the faces of the souls I freed during my last zombie hunt. The design changed as I progressed and now I need to go back to the store and get some more leather and a buckle to make a leg strap. I decided to mimic a gunslinger style since I wanted it to be a fast draw in case I walked up on any evil squirrels or rabbits. I am certainly not close to the one who walks on rain, but I feel good about this. It is solid and should last a lifetime.

I sure never would have thought it was your first attempt JJ. Put some OD Green on it though, to make it a TRUE Zombie Hunter Holster.

Thanks guys.
I just added a belt loop to the bottom back of it for a leg strap. I'll add an updated pic when I get a strap tomorrow.

Strap will help a lot, specially when outside. Shouldn't have to worry about getting debris in the suppressor that way.

Thanks Shoonmine. I got advice from forum members here and downlaoded some digital leather working books. Wasn't to hard, but my fingers are stained black now. Wear gloves when using stain.

I think a few snaps/buttons like the one I used for the strap would work fine. I have already started sketches of my next holster. I like this one, but I have an idea that will be as gruesome as a zombie hunter deserves.

I used the scrap pieces of leather to test how the stain was going to take to the leather. After completing the holster, I used the scraps to make a quick sheath for the War Dog. Since I hadn't sealed the stain, I tried to was it off the leather. The result was what looked like a Hannibal Lector mask, Frankenstein or even Leahterface. This spawned an idea for the next holster. I am going to pick up some red and green stain to make it look even more gruesome and rotten flesh-like. This sketch is what I plan to make. The octagons are going to be rusty bolts, Frankenstein style. The gaps in the seams will be suede dyed dark red like rotten meat. Hopefully it turns out as nasty as the image in my head.

nice! I have a similar pistol set-up, ('cept mine is the buckmark) suppressed and Burris Fastfire. I have two daughters, so while you cover the zombies, mine's for boyfriend hunting IDF style (kidding of course)

Great looking holster and I love the face on it, reminds me of the Serpent and the Rainbow.
