I think this hike is definitely one of the dogs favourites~

I noticed quite a few fungi starting to appear, this reminded me to try something later in the hike !

As we sat on an outcrop Snicker spotted a Seal !

Turned out there were 3 in total but my little camera struggled to zoom in on them enough to see~

Maisy's mind seemed elsewhere, she'd seen more seals in the past that Snicker had eaten bowls of dog food !

We continued on with the hike~

The waterfall was flowing quite well !

With Snicker entertained by her little stick I decided to set about making my lamp~

[Linked Image from i910.photobucket.com]

I took a Bracket fungus and hollowed out an area in the centre. I then filled this with some pine resin ~

[Linked Image from i910.photobucket.com]

I cheated today, I had a small bit of cotton ball in my pocket so I stuffed that into the resin to take the spark from my ferro-rod~

As you can imagine this gives off quite a bit of light and with a sharpened stick poked into the side it could easily be carried around a camp. I'd think this would burn for quite some time but if you get some extra resin you can keep adding to it as it gets low.~

You can see I moved it without a stick as the bottom stays quite cool, a stick would be better though as you will be in a world of hurt if that resin drips on your skin !!!

Happy lamp making !

True, but I relocate often, so it may come in handy one day.

Looks Like a great little trip.
And that lamp looks great. Will have to try that my self sometime soon.
Thanks for the pics!
