I like the Bowie RMD variants as well.

I have to agree with this. The black with blue handle one is awesome. Not too fond of the blue handle, but still like the design a lot. Slap some black G10 or paper handles on it ...

I know these are for your personal collection, BUT if you ever needed to sharpen those serrations how would you do it?
I have a sharpmaker with the dvd and Sal shows how to do it on a Delica (I think), but the Busse serrations look way more "extreme"

Thanks again for the pics

Great pictures! Thank You Jim.
So is this display the sort of thing to look forward to at Blade? Some past releases at prices better than the secondary market? I'm trying to develop a game plan on what I want to score at my first Blade show, tough choices for a limited budget!

I think Blade is mostly for announcing upcoming stuff. There will be some stuff there for sale, but not a pile of older blades like at Knob Creek.

That's right. Blade will be where they release the Res-C Khukri and the 14" "Mother of all B!t(h*$"...that and the satin finished 11-11s for the low introductory price of just $99.

Don't laugh! It could happen!

I would probably try using a sharpmaker. I also have a triangular Lansky stone that was made for serrations, but it's very fine, so might be fine for touching up, but wouldn't be suitable for any serious sharpening -- if it was really bad, I'd probably have to resort to using needle files first.

Here's something that I posted about the difference between Knob Creek and Blade over on Bladeforums last night:

Quote
The character of Knob Creek and Blade is very different. Blade is the biggest knife show in the country and tends to be more about new releases; don't expect to see something from two or three years ago at Blade. They also have to keep knives on the tables throughout the show, so what they bring won't be available all at once. Knob Creek gets a lot of older stuff -- if some old blanks are left over, they'll finish them up and bring 'em. Except for one show, all of the Knob Creeks that I've attended have been purely first come, first served. If they could sell everything on the first day, they'd be happy -- the Busse crew comes to town to sell knives.

Blade is more of a trade show, so is more about generating "buzz" and brand recognition -- its as much (or even more) of a social event/party as a knife sale. I've never been to Blade, and will probably never attend, but I've talked with a lot of folks who have. Knob Creek often has show specials -- they didn't this year, but they usually do and this was a weird situation with the Machine Gun Shoot having been canceled; KC specials are good, but some of the Blade specials I've heard about have been outstanding -- for instance, when the Gladius was released, LEs were a show special at more than 50% off. Most of the people who attend Blade love it, but it's a true multi-day event where you should hang out and see what's happening at the booth several times per day, not a stop in once, buy your knives and leave, which works fine at Knob Creek. I like Knob Creek, I don't know that I would like Blade nearly as much -- that's not to say that one is better than the other, just that they're different types of events.

Some good looking blades there. I have to say that I liked a couple of the RMD variations and a few others. For some reason my eyes are drawn to the beautiful wood handles.

Hah! I remember you being on the hunt for MODs, but not that you were scoring like that! Those bowie/clip point RMDs are the sweetness...that blue handled one...oh mama...

also glad you got to scoremore. remember you looking for one a while back. when I saw them snow up again I was hoping you would've gotten one since I was able to score one.

know there is only supposed to be 50 but with these latest few showing up I wonder if that number has changed or if Dan just didn't sell out of the first 50?

for the record i did a forced patina on it y MOD7 with mustard. came out really nice and it making for an awesome user. love this blade... hole to get a shot at another one down the line.

loving everything they show with a recurve but the bowies really look sweet. not a blue/black g10 fan at all. wouldn't get anything with it on there or I'd make plans to have green or green/black put on there. still a nice looking blade though...
