I carried a G-26 around for a while. They're great guns however, I just cannot get use to the grip angle. So I gave the wife the G-26 and bought myself a Sig-229.
Jerrywhy,
wow you went from sub-compact (hanging pinky) to compact (full grip).. big difference!
Yeah.. quite a few folks have issues with Glock's grip angle.

I've been taking a Serious look at Kahr PM9093 "pocket 9mm"..
http://kahr.com/pistols_PM9093.html
..it seems to be highly regarded, and thinner than Glock.
I really gotta find a buddy with one and shoot it myself.. but then if i like it, i KNOW i'm gonna buy it! so i'm tryin to hold off on that particular test drive! ..if you know what i mean!

For a EDC kit I carry a gerber compact multitool, bic lighter, sharpie,AA maglight (when the LED version gets here I will upgrade)EZLAP pensharpener.Spy sunglasses in a can forces mag pouch, snivel kit with bandaids, tums asprin etc and a antique cigerette case with my I POD with senninhieser earpods and a couple of thumb drives. All this fits in my canadian issue butt pack that some wags have dubbed my tactical manpurse.

sennheiser's are great. i'm using grado sr60 right now. my favorite senn's are the hd485. those two are pretty large, though. also a huge fan of the portapro from koss. it's been around for somethin like twenty years without change in specifications. these headphones are all way less expensive than the knives we collect. i recommend you check em out and upgrade from the earbuds. if you want isolation on the cheap, akg k26 or k27.

Dom,
I have the same bag and pouch from county comm. I just have not set it up with any equipment, as of yet.
I have mostly used it as an all-purpose carry bag.

wow, lots of Glock folks here!
interesting.. i think that really says something.

I sometimes carry a G17. I’ve been wanting to get a compact Glock .45. But I won’t be able to if I keep buying Rats and Dogs. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif" alt="" />

I am so jealous of you yanks and your concealed carry permits.
I do think handgun owners underestimate knives as weapons especially at the range most gunfights happen at. Which is a [censored] good thing as here only criminals can have handguns and the rest of us are stuck with(pardon the pun)knives.

And some places, like here in Indiana, we can carry handguns open or concealed. Our choice. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" /> Same with knives too, no length or carry restrictions whatsoever. And we’re the only state in the US that you can get a lifetime carry permit. It’s $150 I think. No proficiency tests either, you just need a clean record and fill out the paperwork.

I saw a Massad Ayoob video where he said someone 15’ away or closer with a knife should be considered a deadly threat. He said that they can close the distance running faster than most people can draw and fire a handgun. He gave demos and said he’d had to testify as an expert witness in several cases where someone was defending themselves in court for a defensive shooting against someone with a knife.

I also EDC a Sharpie. First I had a regular one, then I bought one of the double ended ones (regular and super fine) for duel-duty use. However I recently changed and got one of the Sharpie minis. Have you seen those in your area? They’re about half the size, so it saves room in your pocket. They also have a ring so you can put them on a keychain or whatever. They make different colors too. If they don’t have the LED AA Maglites in your area, I’d be willing to get one for you and mail it if you paid all the shipping and PayPal fees etc. if you’re interested. I’m an eBay seller and ship all the time and have plenty of bubble mailers and a stack of customs papers, so I’m used to shipping things. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />

A tip for a use for the thumbdrives if you haven’t thought of it, here’s an excerpt from my My keychain "PSK" thread from the Swamp:

“…I’m in the process of adding important information to it. Since I don’t have a scanner, I’m using my digital camera, with good lighting and a tripod. I’m adding things to it such as important financial information, like copies of all my credit cards along with the numbers to call to report them lost or stolen. Also I’m adding copies of my birth certificate, my social security card, my driver’s license, and any other personal or financial information that could be important in an emergency. I also added a file with all my login info and passwords and such for all the websites I visit. I also included a copy of PGP on there, and I encrypted all of this information with 1024 bit encryption in case it is ever lost or stolen so no one can mis-use it. When you visit a secure website for instance (like to order something) they only use 128 bit encryption, which is much less secure, and has been cracked by hackers before. 1024 bit is much safer and hasn’t been cracked yet by anyone that I know of.

I also included a few programs that might come in handy for me if I’m ever on someone else’s computer and want to use the programs. I’m also going to leave plenty of free space so I can also copy someone else’s files (such as photos or MP3s) from their computer to the thumb drive if I wish.

If there is ever an emergency, it’s good to have all of this information on hand. As survivors of the recent hurricanes found out, when they were displaced without their documents and many of them couldn’t prove their identity. For this reason, it’s a good idea to do this if you haven’t already. For mine, for my keyring, I choose the Sony Micro Vault (the one on the far left) because it’s the smallest. The Sony Micro Vaults are the smallest made USB flash thumb drives that I’ve found so far. I included a picture of the side view so you could see that it’s thinner, shorter and narrower.”

I also recently saw the smallest thumbdrive ever at Target if you want to check ‘em out.

cool stuff about USB drives.. i actually had one go bad on me.. i forget the brand, was a cheaper brand.. it's at work.. i'll look tomorrow. Bad sectors? dunno.. bad something.. particular data always got corrupted on this particular bad USB drive.

Wow $150 for a lifetime CCW! that's great!
I had to pay like $170 for mine intially.. then every 2 years have to take renew (~$70) + "3 hour safety class" ($30).

Don't mind the $70 / 2 years.. but that [censored] "safety class".. what a joke.

Otherwise it’s like $40 every 4 years, so it’s a much better deal. I’m glad we don’t have to go through any of that BS training stuff. And ya know what? I don’t think it’s needed. We don’t have it, and we don’t have irrresponsible permit holders going around acting crazy. Know what’s even funnier? The first person in my family to get a permit was my Mom. They gave her one, and she’s legally blind! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ooo.gif" alt="" />

Agreed,
and it's the physically challenged folks that would need a CCW the Most! in order to protect themselves!
So that is really good to hear Andy!

THAT's the thing that non-issuing localities DON'T understand!
I mean if someone's gonna go to the Trouble to Pay, let authorities Know where they live, and tell 'em What weapons they're packin!! hell! WHY would they then make trouble??
meanwhile.. the Real troublemakers go right ahead & carry anyways!
so good for Indiana! they know what's right!

/end rant.

For the most part I really prefer a compact over a subcompact. I'm not a big guy 5'8" about 155 and full size just don't work. However, a compact seems to fit the bill perfectly for me. I wanted to try the G26, and I even carried it around for a year. But like I said the grip angle just wasn't there for me.

In regards to the pinky issue I used a mag extender to give me that extra bit of grip. In fact I blinged that little G-26 out a bit. I put in a 3.5 pound connector with a NY1 trigger spring, extended slide stop lever, ghost ring night sites, and the underwater cups. Now it's my wifes and she's got the only gun among use that can shoot underwater.

Peace
Jerry

Statistically, it's a very small percentage of CCW holders who actually commit any crimes. And it's usually doing something really stupid like driving drunk etc....
