This is my pack and kit that I usually cart around with me to work and on various outings to overnight trips. This is by no means a complete kit, but has the basics and room for change and other everyday items. What do you guys carry??

Bushmans Insect repelant! Of course! Sounds good man.
So...your EDC sounds a lot more comprehensive than most...what aspects of it are incomplete? i.e. what do you wish to add? Sounds to me like you got the boy scout motto pretty much covered.

Its not exactly EDC, but I take this pack with me to work six days a week as well as on day trips and overnighters. I don't wear it around when out shopping or around town, but it usually is in the car.
If I am heading into the bush I usually have a much more comprehensive kit, but this set up works for day to day and is not overly heavy. I think I could use a bit more first aid gear, but I am pretty happy with what I carry at present.
Its kind of like a well equiped work/day bag.

What is the shelf life on pain meds? I hear you should keep some in aid kits, but how often should they be rotated?

What is the shelf life on pain meds? I hear you should keep some in aid kits, but how often should they be rotated? I think it depends on the medicine. Usually it tells you on the pill bottle. Or you can call a pharmacy and ask.

Almost all medication is good years if not decades beyond its expiration date as long as they are kept airtight and no moisture.
They just loose potency and dont become toxic.

Hello all , I'm new here and this is my first post so I thought I'd share what I carry on a daily basis as a way to introduce myself. I got the bag from county comm it's their EOD utility bag with one of their personal organizers attached to the outside of the bag. The contents are pretty basic my G19 with 2 extra mags,Cold steel master hunter and a pouch with extra batteries and bulb for my Surefire reside in the EOD bag. The personal organizer carries a couple pens,ID badge, and my Surefire. It's not a complete kit by any means but the EOD bag has alot of extra room for any other items I may need to toss in. Not in the picture is a Gerber multi tool and a windproof lighter that I also keep on the EOD bag. The cold steel is in there simply because it fits in the bag alot easier than my Scrapper and is easier to get out of the bag in a hurry.

It looks about the same, but I think the swelling went down some and I'm able to wiggle my fingers a bit more. Hopefully it will heal soon so I can get back to playing with my knives. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />

My fingers (especially pointer, middle, & thumb) still feel puffy, stiff, and sensitive. Today Mom put sutures from the 1st aid kit on it to help hold it shut.

I am so jealous of you yanks and your concealed carry permits. I do think handgun owners underestimate knives as weapons especially at the range most gunfights happen at. Which is a [censored] good thing as here only criminals can have handguns and the rest of us are stuck with(pardon the pun)knives.
For a EDC kit I carry a gerber compact multitool, bic lighter, sharpie,AA maglight (when the LED version gets here I will upgrade)EZLAP pensharpener.Spy sunglasses in a can forces mag pouch, snivel kit with bandaids, tums asprin etc and a antique cigerette case with my I POD with senninhieser earpods and a couple of thumb drives. All this fits in my canadian issue butt pack that some wags have dubbed my tactical manpurse.

Jerrywhy, wow you went from sub-compact (hanging pinky) to compact (full grip).. big difference! Yeah.. quite a few folks have issues with Glock's grip angle. I've been taking a Serious look at Kahr PM9093 "pocket 9mm".. http://kahr.com/pistols_PM9093.html..it seems to be highly regarded, and thinner than Glock. I really gotta find a buddy with one and shoot it myself.. but then if i like it, i KNOW i'm gonna buy it! so i'm tryin to hold off on that particular test drive! ..if you know what i mean!

wow, lots of Glock folks here! interesting.. i think that really says something. I sometimes carry a G17. I’ve been wanting to get a compact Glock .45. But I won’t be able to if I keep buying Rats and Dogs. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif" alt="" /> I am so jealous of you yanks and your concealed carry permits. I do think handgun owners underestimate knives as weapons especially at the range most gunfights happen at. Which is a [censored] good thing as here only criminals can have handguns and the rest of us are stuck with(pardon the pun)knives. And some places, like here in Indiana, we can carry handguns open or concealed. Our choice. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" /> Same with knives too, no length or carry restrictions whatsoever. And we’re the only state in the US that you can get a lifetime carry permit. It’s $150 I think. No proficiency tests either, you just need a clean record and fill out the paperwork. I saw a Massad Ayoob video where he said someone 15’ away or closer with a knife should be considered a deadly threat. He said that they can close the distance running faster than most people can draw and fire a handgun. He gave demos and said he’d had to testify as an expert witness in several cases where someone was defending themselves in court for a defensive shooting against someone with a knife. For a EDC kit I carry a gerber compact multitool, bic lighter, sharpie,AA maglight (when the LED version gets here I will upgrade)EZLAP pensharpener.Spy sunglasses in a can forces mag pouch, snivel kit with bandaids, tums asprin etc and a antique cigerette case with my I POD with senninhieser earpods and a couple of thumb drives… I also EDC a Sharpie. First I had a regular one, then I bought one of the double ended ones (regular and super fine) for duel-duty use. However I recently changed and got one of the Sharpie minis. Have you seen those in your area? They’re about half the size, so it saves room in your pocket. They also have a ring so you can put them on a keychain or whatever. They make different colors too. If they don’t have the LED AA Maglites in your area, I’d be willing to get one for you and mail it if you paid all the shipping and PayPal fees etc. if you’re interested. I’m an eBay seller and ship all the time and have plenty of bubble mailers and a stack of customs papers, so I’m used to shipping things. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" /> A tip for a use for the thumbdrives if you haven’t thought of it, here’s an excerpt from my My keychain "PSK" thread from the Swamp: “…I’m in the process of adding important information to it. Since I don’t have a scanner, I’m using my digital camera, with good lighting and a tripod. I’m adding things to it such as important financial information, like copies of all my credit cards along with the numbers to call to report them lost or stolen. Also I’m adding copies of my birth certificate, my social security card, my driver’s license, and any other personal or financial information that could be important in an emergency. I also added a file with all my login info and passwords and such for all the websites I visit. I also included a copy of PGP on there, and I encrypted all of this information with 1024 bit encryption in case it is ever lost or stolen so no one can mis-use it. When you visit a secure website for instance (like to order something) they only use 128 bit encryption, which is much less secure, and has been cracked by hackers before. 1024 bit is much safer and hasn’t been cracked yet by anyone that I know of. I also included a few programs that might come in handy for me if I’m ever on someone else’s computer and want to use the programs. I’m also going to leave plenty of free space so I can also copy someone else’s files (such as photos or MP3s) from their computer to the thumb drive if I wish. If there is ever an emergency, it’s good to have all of this information on hand. As survivors of the recent hurricanes found out, when they were displaced without their documents and many of them couldn’t prove their identity. For this reason, it’s a good idea to do this if you haven’t already. For mine, for my keyring, I choose the Sony Micro Vault (the one on the far left) because it’s the smallest. The Sony Micro Vaults are the smallest made USB flash thumb drives that I’ve found so far. I included a picture of the side view so you could see that it’s thinner, shorter and narrower.” I also recently saw the smallest thumbdrive ever at Target if you want to check ‘em out.

cool stuff about USB drives.. i actually had one go bad on me.. i forget the brand, was a cheaper brand.. it's at work.. i'll look tomorrow. Bad sectors? dunno.. bad something.. particular data always got corrupted on this particular bad USB drive.
Wow $150 for a lifetime CCW! that's great! I had to pay like $170 for mine intially.. then every 2 years have to take renew (~$70) + "3 hour safety class" ($30).
Don't mind the $70 / 2 years.. but that [censored] "safety class".. what a joke.

I’m glad we don’t have to go through any of that BS training stuff. And ya know what? I don’t think it’s needed. We don’t have it, and we don’t have irrresponsible permit holders going around acting crazy. Know what’s even funnier? The first person in my family to get a permit was my Mom. They gave her one, and she’s legally blind! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ooo.gif" alt="" />

Agreed, and it's the physically challenged folks that would need a CCW the Most! in order to protect themselves! So that is really good to hear Andy!

Andy, ..we don’t have irrresponsible permit holders going around acting crazy.. THAT's the thing that non-issuing localities DON'T understand! I mean if someone's gonna go to the Trouble to Pay, let authorities Know where they live, and tell 'em What weapons they're packin!! hell! WHY would they then make trouble?? meanwhile.. the Real troublemakers go right ahead & carry anyways! so good for Indiana! they know what's right! /end rant.

For the most part I really prefer a compact over a subcompact. I'm not a big guy 5'8" about 155 and full size just don't work. However, a compact seems to fit the bill perfectly for me. I wanted to try the G26, and I even carried it around for a year. But like I said the grip angle just wasn't there for me. In regards to the pinky issue I used a mag extender to give me that extra bit of grip. In fact I blinged that little G-26 out a bit. I put in a 3.5 pound connector with a NY1 trigger spring, extended slide stop lever, ghost ring night sites, and the underwater cups. Now it's my wifes and she's got the only gun among use that can shoot underwater. Peace Jerry

/end rant. Statistically, it's a very small percentage of CCW holders who actually commit any crimes. And it's usually doing something really stupid like driving drunk etc....

Thanks for the offer about the Maglight LED but I have a cool Fenix light coming my way this week. I will post some pics when it comes as it is one of the coolest lights on the market.
I don't feel so bad about our gun laws after seeing whats happening in britain. It is unbelivable, they want to ban pointy kitchen knives and SAKs.
I tried the double headed sharpie but it conked ut really fast.
Soeone I was talking to mentoined a really cool carry gun. It is a CZ75(personal fave) with a compact slide and full size grip. That way you get all your rounds,a good grip and it is still a smaller package. Oh well at least I can EDC my Dogfather if I really wanted.

hey all
you guys should be grateful for living in a country where law abiding citizens are allowed to carry .. here in the uk we can only legally carry a sub 3" non locking folding knife.. if you do get stopped and searched then even one of those will ensure you don't get allowed onto the tube (metro, bart, subway type thing)
anyway .. my urban edc is as follows
Spyderco UK penknife Fred Perrin Wallet Pentagon Light L2 mobile Phone in aqua blue (cause it makes girls go ooo) <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> USB pen drive with all my details, passwords, medical records encrypted with pgp a roll of pound coins 1 litre bottle of mineral water some elastoplasts, sterile bandana in a ziploc, some compeed gel plasters, a small bottle of chinese herbal liquid bruise/ligament medicine
all of this carried in a very ordinary shoulder bag .. the only thing i haven't seen in other people lists is the chinese herbal medicine and the gel plasters.. i had to walk about six miles one day cause of transport failures and i'm glad i had those ..
cheers

Uquq would you mind posting a pic of the UK penknife? I spend some time on British Blades for my bushcraft fix and the opinion seems to be that the UK Penknife is the best production UK legal knife and I have know idea what they look like.
It is terrible in the UK they are scared to talk about the SF dagger because the dagger shape is only good for fighting. It is really sad when people censor themselves out of fear. With all the CCTV cameras ,ASBO's and a populace so indoctrinated to obey it is very much like east germany under the stasi.
The USB thing is a cool idea I have a 2 gig memorex I barely use. I think the US has a better grasp of what is actually dangerous than the UK as they ban PGP but not handguns. It is an interesting priority. I also love how texas allows handguns but not knives with a bigger than 5 and a half inch blade. The state that is famous for bowies does not allow bowies.

thanks for the pic Bubba. It is a great EDC knife...
Unsub..yep i agree . as someone who trains MA everyday, i am deeply interested in how our forerunners developed tools that could be used to protect oneself in times of emergency. Unfor. anything blade that is produced for combat is banned in the UK. So if we want to discuss things such as the FS dagger a lot of hinting and stuff has to be done <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/banghead.gif" alt="" /> Apologies if y posts sounded like i was being deliberatley awkward but we have to be careful to make sure our forum can carry on without bad publicity.
There is a relation between this and teh main issue of EDC packs. We are so controlled and dependent on the authorities that when something does go wrong people panic and are unable to cope. God forbid anything really bad happens. I'm not sure our society would continue to function. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />

I think the US has a better grasp of what is actually dangerous than the UK as they ban PGP but not handguns. We can have PGP. It's just not legal to export. Reason being, it's so good encryption, they don't want people in other countries to have it because of security concerns. All they'd have to do is download it from the net though.
