WW2, the US gov't wanted a secure oil line from the wells in NWT for the war effort instead of being dependent on the waterways.

It was built by the US army from 42 to 44, however the war was over before it got much use. When they pulled out, the truck were all left behind. They feel like silent sentries on the road. It was a strange feeling to walk among them.
