Seeing an Air Force Warthog open up its canon on ground elements is a "holy &&^%$ ^&^$$# did you see that ^%$#(( @T@%$$# it was like it was ^%$#@( all over them with &%$#@%&* bullets that just &%$#%& everything" moment.

I LOVE the Warthog! It's ugly as sin, but MAN is it ever a DOD! Dealer Of Doom.

I've said this before, but it's been a while. The Barrels on that plane are I THINK 12 feet long! And the drum that holds the ammo is close to the size of an old VW Beetle. Also it is the ONLY aircraft the United States has where the nose wheels are NOT in the center of the Aircraft. They had to be offset to one side because of the gun.

It isn't really an aircraft. They just slapped some turbines and wings on a BFG. (Big %$#^&* Gun)

The Warthogs used to be stationed at Myrtle Beach AFB. I saw many of them coming down the beach back in the 80's. They'd fly down the beach line at about 300-400 ft (maybe) I just assumed they were doing practice firing runs.

JJ, you are more correct than you know. They had the gun, or at least the concept and THEN built the plane around it! the Pilot has a Titanium "Tub" around the entire cockpit module.

here in southern ohio there is a area for military aircraft to fly. I was working for a farmer when two a10s flew over and started making mock gun runs on his barn and silo. they were about 200 to 250 feet of the ground and the were doing it for just over 30min. one of the pilote flew over and waved. It was something I will never forget.

I wasn't joking. I watched a documentary on it. I have loved that flying gun since I first saw those teeth painted on it at an airshow.

THAT happened when they came to POPE AFB, right next to Ft. Bragg. The C130's looked pretty neat painted like that as well. POPE was my last duty station, I retired from there.
