when the gun fires it actualy slows down the aircraft!!!! it can fly with one engine and only half a tail. they have one at the wright pat airforce base museum and it is sweet!! my grandpa worked as a fire fighter on the base and loves going back up to walk around. he can tell some great stories.

10 weapons stations, that puppy can carry SEVERAL tons of ordinance! But it can only fly about 350Kts or so. But then again, that is one of it' strong points. I watched a few make a passes through a valley and unload their entire payload. Yeah, I was happy to be on the mountain and not in the valley.

I can imagine the conversation when they made that thing.



"What the hell is that?"

"It's a Vulcan Canon."

"What are you going to do with it?"

"Put wings on it and make it fly."

"Are you out of you vulcan mind?"

I don't think the A10 is this way, but I DO know on the F4, if it has external gun pods, three of them I think, IF they fired all three at the same time until they ran out of ammo, the aircraft would stall.

Of course the F4 has the glide path of a Brick.

IF for no other reason than the story Jeff told about how he got the Rainwalker moniker, you KNOW he's a good guy. It's a story that he should re-tell/post again from time to time. It is a VERY touching story.
