I forget who it is on this forum, but someone put DogFather handles on a B11.
That would be my perfect chopper

MM

Here it is.
[Linked Image from i1091.photobucket.com]

The only other choppers I have now are my Cold Steel Gurkha Kukri, an 18" HI ASTK, and a custom chopper by Gerry Drew.

My thoughts on the topic of res-c vs micarta are this: I like both, but when it comes to batoning I very much prefer res-c. I love that Gerry Drew custom, but the micarta handle transmits a ton of shock up my arm while batoning and it's quite painful. Now, if only we could get Dan to put some type of variation of the Regulator handle on a BIG knife and that would become my new ultimate chopper.

Weird. I actually get a bit of vibration on the DogFather when batoning.

I brought this up sometime back about the shock when using my DF. I bought a pair of gloves so will be using them to see if it take out the shock when batoning. I'll be leaving for my one week camping trip up north in two weeks and the DF is going to be abused.

SF, you need to take the DF AND the Rodent 9 and give a report with pics (of the knives in action AND the fish you catch)

Or using the Rodent 9 as the baton to beat the fish through the log <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />

That would be a great picture, with the caption "You're doing it Wrong"

-- Jury's still out on the Rodent 9--I haven't worked up the courage yet to go whack it around and I can't tell whether I love or hate that handle.

-- The DogFather is a nice chunk of steel--well balanced and nicely weighted. I'll admit though, that I am preferentially disposed toward micarta, which tends not to get dinged when whacked with a baton.

I too like full-tang with micarta, but the Rodent 9's "handle bump" was a deal killer for me.

Until I buy (and thoroughly test) a large Busse Combat chopper my nod will continue to go the DFCG. I honestly don't know if a BC could unseat the DF as "king of the chopping hill".

I've felt some reverberation too.
