I think if the BWM were a full 1/4" and convexed, it would be the perfect chopper. I'm anxious to see how the Mastiff feels.

Doc, that's because you have hands of steel.

The BWMLE and a few of the variants are thicker ( saber ground)

Here are my favorites:

Being that you favor Micarta over res-c for big blades, I'm not sure how helpful this is. I have owned an NMFBM and BWM, but prefer Res-C on 10"+ blades, so these are my keepers. The BWM and NMFBM are both great, but the handles didn't do it for me. There's always the KZ and MOAB!

A whole 1/4" though? Saber ground would be better than full flat, but not at the prices they are commanding these days.

NMFBM and Test Team KZ are at the top of my "way too expensive and will never buy to use but really want them" list.

How about going a little bit shorter? I absolutely love my NMSFNO! The Rodent 9 is pretty awesome, as well, although I must admit that I haven't used mine yet. Also, I have a new found fascination for the SAR series. I only have a SAR-6 LE and am gonna get a SARGE-7, but I would definitely grab a SAR 8 of given the opportunity.

To expensive!!! Bah, consider it will last you a lifetime, divide the cost by how many days you think you have left, it's really very affordable, heck , you can't afford NOT to get one....

You can always just squirrel some away each week!!
