I surley don't need another fixed blade knife, but that is one that speaks to me. Ka-Bar on steroids!

I'm sure this question has been asked but what better place to ask again. What's the take on the hollow grind? Do the masses feel that this grind will hold up when doing really hard work, such at chopping, batoning, all round camp chores?

SF, I THINK that the hollow grind on MOST knives will provide plenty of strength. The DEPTH of the grind isn't usually as deep as we think that it is. Now, saying that I think that there will probably be more steel behind the edge on a conventional flat grind Vs a Hollow grind.

That's exactly what I thought when I first picked it up! As far as the concerns about the hollow grind, I cannot say with certainty as I haven't abused her yet, but I suspect that what Skunkhunter said is correct. At first glance, you can't even really tell that it's a hollow grind because it is very shallow. I have a feeling the blade will hold up just fine. I'm sure if you took an original convex TG and the LB TG and smashed them both against a metal pole, the edge would roll first on the LB. That being said, I think the TG LBS will hold up just fine and I would have no problem relying on it in a survival situation.

What's the concern? <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif" alt="" /> After all, it's a BUSSE!!! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />

I'll take it out camping and use it for normal camp uses. If it chips or dings I'll send it back for warranty. Its better to try it under controlled conditions than if you really need it to survive. The only thing that will suffer because of hollow grind is chopping. Edge will probably be thinner so might be a bit more prone to chips or rolls, but also will be easier to sharpen. Tensile strength will be very comparable to convex as both grinds aren't flat. Balance might be a bit more forward with the I-beamed handle. All in all, will be almost the same as original TG. And I'm sure that Jerry would not put in production a knife that would be inferior!

The edge is a bit thin compared to other Busses, but it certainly isn't too thin. Like GD said, it is INFI! The edge will roll with hard chopping, but that'll happen with any Busse, granted it'll happen a bit quicker with the TG LBS. Even my B-11 has a few rolls/dings on it.
I finally measured the blade height of the TG and it is in fact 1.5". I think the NMSFNO is 1.75 or 1.80". Will have to measure.
Getting this blade is making me wish I had a regulator! I am going to order at least one more TG, but think I may add a regulator to the list as well. Seems like a very comparable design to the TG.
Does anyone have a comparison pic of the two?
