I don't actually live in Salt Lake City, I live in Millcreek. Today seemed like a good day to find this creek and see where is begins.
On the drive to the base of the mountain where I was told I could find Millcreek, I found Dog Tired and Spider Pig's school.
Then I found the creek. It is a decent size and almost roaring in places, at least while the snow is melting.
'Merica!!
I was also told there where a few lakes in the mountain tops around here. So, I hit the trails looking for the source of the creek and the lakes.
I found a decent hammock camping spot.
And, this guy just begging me to unsheath my DF.
Like butter.
Got a little thirsty and snow melt is some of the purest water I have ever tasted.
I found the geology interesting. This was taken a few feet from a small sign, "Wasatch Fault Line." I assume this is sedentary rock push up vertically from the grinding plates.
Once I started getting above 7,500 feet, many snow drifts made annoying obstacles on the trail.
Then ... the source! This is what the locals call Thousand Springs. It is a green rock face with hundreds (they exaggerated about thousands <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" /> with little springs where snow melt works its way down through fissures in the rock.

I eventually made it to the top and found the lake.

Took a nap.

Stared at the sun look a good redneck.

Then went home.
