I'll start by saying...I know nothing about machetes, never owned one, don't remember the last time I picked one up and always doubted how they fit in for New England. With that out of the way...lets have a look!

Thin as it is, I was surprised that the 'chete feels substantial...

First off, lets play to the Mora's strengths with a little opening up of the trail...before-

[Linked Image from i432.photobucket.com]

And after..used the Mora on the right side and BR on the left..

[Linked Image from i432.photobucket.com]

How easy schmeezy was that??!! Easy to see why folks like machetes...light, fast and easy! The BR did the job, but not as well and with much more effort.

On to a little thicker stuff that was downed...

Took the thicker stuff down easily...but I was getting a little edge rolling! The BR was like.."You call this work?"

[Linked Image from i432.photobucket.com]

Off to the chopping just to see! They turned this-

Into this like nothing. Fun to listen to a machete whistle as it slices the air!!

This is after 15 chops each...

Took the Battle Rat 21 to get through and I stopped counting in the mid-30's with the Mora. Handle stung my hand a little with the Mora.

Check out the edge of the Mora...

Is that typical for machetes? I got this from 42blades if you know him from BF and he says on his website he changes the edge to be sturdier. Probably have better luck with the traditional machete companies from South and Central America?

Seems like most things....you use the right tool for the right job. Light brush clearing, a machete must be a joy to use. But for me- I'll be sticking with my Battle Rat as my go to big blade. It's a bruiser and does a lot well.

Hope folks liked the pics. Have a great holiday all!!

Super curious how my Fiddleback would fair with such hardwood foes....never chopped on anything "not green" with it. Biggest is probably 1" maybe...nothing of substance.

Thanks for the review...that Machete took a beating. Looks like the rat chewed it up <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

The chief cause of unhappiness and failure is trading what you want most in life for what you want at the moment.

Nice review! I have been looking at the Mora 333 for a bit and like that it is soo light. I was surprised that it it is 12C27 stainless, prob just on the soft side so it bend and does not break. Most machetes are made of soft carbon so they bend and are easy to sharpen. I am no expert either but 42 is and that guy knows his stuff!
Looks like you had fun at any rate! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />

Nice review... A machete is nearly a necessity for blazing new trail here in the swamps of south Louisiana. I like the looks of the Mora as I would not be using it as a chopper.

That machete edge is pretty rough. I've beat on my Fiddleback 12in, which is a little thicker that that mora ( I think) and never had it do anything like that

This stuff was still pretty green actually. It was a recent fall from a storm and I thought it wasn't too tough...I'm too used to my choppers I guess! Seemed to start to roll once I got into the 1" thick stuff...

Edit- you know, I had a brain fart on what is hard wood/softer wood...I think after blasting at anykind of wood with my Rats and Dogs...hard woods just aren't so hard anymore! hah!
