i know it sounds strange but is it a tick...... if you dont know what it is be careful with pulling it out. how large is the object. The opening in the wound is the size of a pen. The thing kind of comes out a little when my wife sqess the swelled up area the size of a 1/2 Dollor.

Dog ticks are about the size you describe and I literally just pulled one off the inside of my dogs ear a few days ago.
