I got the m&p shield after handling it at NRA, every company had compacts but it was the best in my hand I'm just not sold on those M&P's I've heard good and bad but I shoot it faster than glocks and those were the two platforms I was looking at for my purpose. With the apex parts it's a totally different gun. If it works for you and shoots and fits well, doesnt matter who makes it! Amen!

One of my favs is my S&W 6906. Right around $300--beautiful little gun and built to survive a nuclear explosion!

I do have a hk usp full size in 40 also. It feels like a monster, but I like the feel of it too. Unfortunately it's my only in 40 and it adds so much time

Then there's the 10.5" Stainless Ruger Blackhawk in 44 mag...shot a squirrel with it last year. Probably a 4-5 lbs squirrel (never saw one so big!). Went to skin it and it was completely liquid inside...
