The elmax should be good here for the damp weather here.
I love a nice patina on a carbon blade

My father liked the carbon blades as well, and his knives had a good patina on them.
I am old school in a lot of ways
My favorite knife is an old wade and butchers woodcraft clone made circa 1930

And that's talking about blades made of 'rusting'-steels, any other knife I use, I just don't bother...

We get coyotes on our front yard some nights

You get the bears over there as well, don't you?
I live in Mission and yes we get blackbears as well

I have a bravo 1 that my daughter thought was stainless, she soaked it for a few hours in the sink
Pitted to heck now, but it is a user so I don't really care

Do you collect old knives? I like the newer (Busse/kin) thicker utility knives for the lateral strength.

Keeping 'm sharp, that's a different matter: I usually just iron the blades I use and that's also when they get inspected.

That's not to say I don't take care of the others: they get the occasional wipe with the cloth and check of the edge too. It's just that if I don't use them, they just get a layer and get put to sleep.

I don't collect knives, I haven't had the money over the last few years.
Raising kids and putting them through university
