I use the Lee Valley museum wax for storage and it seems to work well. And the mineral oil for the ones currently in use.

Keeping 'm sharp, that's a different matter: I usually just iron the blades I use and that's also when they get inspected. iron the blades??? I never heard that term before. What does it mean. Ah, ehm, what's the term? Putting a rod of steel to the edge of a knife in order to align it (back)?

I have the regulator as well. It seems to get the most carry time when i'm hiking in the mountains.

Ah, ehm, what's the term? Putting a rod of steel to the edge of a knife in order to align it (back)? We just call it sterling or using a steel on it

Mine are not I'm afraid I got the bug rather badly and got far too many (Busse and kin) knives for my usage. Not all combat grade either...

The elmax should be good here for the damp weather here. I love a nice patina on a carbon blade My father liked the carbon blades as well, and his knives had a good patina on them. I am old school in a lot of ways My favorite knife is an old wade and butchers woodcraft clone made circa 1930 I would have thought your favorite would have been a certain case fixed blade.
