You know you could always go the laminated stock route Bill. That's what my 308 remy is. model 700 VLS w/26 inch heavy barrel. Dang thing weighs 10 pounds NAKED! But man will it shoot. I'd only want one on a bench rest specific gun or a dedicated varmint....

My reasons for kydex vs leather.....
-Leather loses it's rigidity over time leading to difficulties reholstering. -Leather has a slower draw due to more friction. -Leather absorbs and holds moisture. Ok, let's see. 1. NOT if your IWB holster has a steel reinforced mouth. 2. Get one that has a boned inner surface, super slick and if they treat it like some knife sheaths, plenty stiff. 3. Again, get one and treat it with something like snow seal or something like that. Not trying to tear your observations apart, they are all accurate, just listing ways to make the kydex advantage not so great.

Thought about it, but I want to bite the bullet and get a synthetic in either 300 wsm or 300 winmag with detachable magazine for my quad gun

I still think a leather holster will never be as fast as Dale's kydex.... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />
