Right now I have one passed out at my feet, another on the couch and one laying in the hallway halfway between the kids room and my room where my wife is sleeping. I am down to one. Bertie likes being an only dog, where previously she was one of three (and briefly one of four). I will get another at some point, but no real rush. Our standard poodle when I was a kid would always position himself so he could observe everyone in the family, or at least the door to where they were. This caused a ton of tripping over him at night, but he never changed his ways.

Thats great! The big people are the oddities! Not to mention that some of them are REALLY BIG! Sadly, we had to transfer an adolescent one night because he was too big to fit into our CT scanner. Our limit is about 350-400 pounds. He checked in at about 425.

Unfortunately all of ours will probably die around the same time. The Shepherds are 3 months apart and the third is a beagle that is 5 years older than they are.

I feel sorry for EMS dealing with some of the patients. We had an 875 pounder that had to be moved from his apartment by crane. Poor guy lost 300 pounds during a hospitalization, but gained over 200 back, then died.

I tried to space mine out, but my neighbor lost both of his and they were both labs and three years age difference. Hopefully yours will all live long and healthy lives.

I don't see how anyone can get that large. Once you get so big someone has to enable you to continue the behavior.

Well this guy was stuck in a special bed and had stuff brought to him by one of his relatives. I cannot imagine he had a very happy existence, and of course he had a ton (or not quite half a ton, I suppose) of associated health problems. A lot these folks die of heart failure, as they just cannot push blood through all the adipose tissue. Virtually all the males also have obstructive sleep apnea, which is also hard on the heart.
