As Hobbes says, post away. We have a lot of good people here, and you are always welcome in any conversation.

I got the sheaths put together just in time for this weekend. We will be going camping with our friends and the young Marine. Just in time before he ships out, and he will have a chance to pick his rig out.I made kydex inserts for the bigger sheaths and the RMD and 511, I tried something a little different. I tried a "Taco" "Pancake" hybrid. I perfer the sheath opening of the taco style, but wanted some rivets on both sides for molle clips or tie downs. Retension is great and secure for all of them. Here ya go.

Did I pick yet?

The Regulator or the 6.

Any one of them will serve well but those two are my standouts.

Yep. Of the selection, the 6 or Reg are my choices as well.

I served for 6 years. Army Infantry. 2 years in Iraq and 1 year in afghanistan. mostly light Infantry walking a lot. I voted for the Ratmandu. if he is going to be walking and not always with vehicles it's about perfect. enough to do damage if need be and small enough for the edc stuff like cutting open mre boxes and mre's, picking splinters, whittling when bored, opening packages ect ect. I know we all think bigger is better lol (believe me I'm a chopper man myself) but for his work a good solid working blade is all he will need.

I carried a RMJ hawk over there and it seemed to be the only thing that scared the locals. they didn't fear guns or knives but when I got the hawk out to clear debris, make shooting lanes ect they always looked frightened lol. the hawk stayed on the ruck most days though.

Also don't get a cheap multitool. they break so quick. leatherman or swiss army all the way or a sog.

JYD# 165 I love hard use knives. in all steels, sizes, and shapes.

Not sure but there are some nice rigs. I second a good Victorinox multi-tool.
