Here I decided to enjoy the view, standing in the middle of an ant lope. NOT very pleasant.
From here we continued along the mountain ridge, for a couple of miles before descenting again.

We came to a sort of meadow, where our guide found a hide of leafcutter ants.
He opened it up, and asked if I wanted to taste the ants.
I did, and the tasted just like lemons. A bit chewey towards the end though...
Sara tasted the too, and like them.

From here we continued some 5 miles till we got to the village where our guide lived. On the way we saw the biggest [censored] spider I have ever seen, hanging in its web. The body it self was 2" long. The colors were black, yellow and white.

The village was like takes out of the distant past.
Wooden huts. NO electicity. Pigs and oxen living amongst the people. They lived off their ricefields down the valley and their animals.
They did have a water reservoir though. Some government watersupply project.
All food was prepared over fire. Pretty cool.

Here we spend the night in an open hut, on some matresses, under moscito nets.
We had a good evening with food prepared by our hosts and a fair amount of beer.

Day 6
We woke up early, had some breakfast and began the hike for the day.
We walked up the mountain again, heading for a waterfall.
On the way we came across a big caterpillar being attacked by ants. It was a goner... And the ants got a good meal.

We came to the waterfall by a narrow path.
There we got to swim a little, and our guide tried to catch some critters.
He enden up being bitten by a snake. It was a python, so it wasn't poisonous. But he got a good scare.
Then it began to rain hard.

Sara and I had brought good hiking boots, which really came in handy. Others wore Converse. Stupid! The fell behind by an hour almost, because the terrain was really rugged and tough. Especially the descent from the mountain hurt those with bad footwear.

After a couple of hours of walking civilisation began to appear again, and we came to a small road, where some locals had set up a small booth. This was the only place on our entire trip where things were expensive, I guess they knew that tired and hungry hiker will buy anything.

From here, we got some food and went rafting on some bamboo rafts. Not really that exciting... We did capsize though...
After that we drove back to Chiang Mai.
All in all the jungle trek was really an amazing experience, and next time, I think we will go for 3 or 4 days in the jungle.

Day 7
This day we went for somesthing called: Flight of the Gibbon.
Basicly a zipline track up in the canopys.
You get equippel with a harness and an helmet, and then you just zipline from tree to tree. Really fun.
Some of the ziplines were some 300 yards long, and you were hanging some 50 yards above the ground.
There were supposed to be Gibbons in the trees, put we only saw few.

Later that day we went to a fish spa. Small fish ate the dead skin off our feet. Not really that nice, but Sara had a good time.
