What ya gettin?

Well, this is awkward, I think I will lose some Busse money because I started a new hobby and already am on my second "fix".

I'm getting an FN Herstal FS2000 rifle <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif" alt="" />

I'm a little nervous because I never made an FFL transfer from an online store before so hope the item is as described and the store I'm going to won't give me much of a problem.
Where did you have it shipped to? I know a few of the stores in this area.

I already called ahead and they OK'ed the transfer. My regular store/range wouldn't accept a transfer from this particular online retailer.

Skunk I am a little concerned about the sharpened top edge. I may take a grinder to it or I may leave it and use it like a wedge and pry from the other end.

The biggest concern is making a sheath for it so I can carry it and store it safely.

Well that really stinks.

Not to wind you up but I might be concerned if your regular FFL won't accept a transfer from a certain online retailer. Thats a red flag to me.

Yeah, you know how it is, every range I've gone to has had weird stipulations on stuff and different rules for what they do.

Honestly I understand, I got this rifle for less than they would have to pay cost, so with tax, revenue, etc. they would be losing a lot of money from people if they just had the same item they sell sent there but much cheaper.

In this particular case I just wasn't willing to pay a grand more than I could get it for.

If it wasn't for the pucker factor you could only dull a portion of the top edge and use that part to plant your hand on. But as I said, the pucker factor and Mr. Murphy are VERY close friends.

Yeah a sheath of some sort would require some thought. At least for your purposes.

Which is why I went to another range to do the transfer and I might consider spending my range time there instead, though they have other things I don't like as much as my regular range.

Generally its hard to find a good range around here it seems and the ones that are here can do as they please because they have enough customers.

Hey MB, you ever give any thoughts to pull through snaps? In the Survivalist series of books the lead character John Thomas Rourke carried a double shoulder 45 rig with the pull through snaps. Just a thought.

That's one good thing about living out in Hicksville. We don't have to worry about having to go to a shooting range.
