I am happy in Colorado. The thing with the Ozarks is the average income there is a bit less than what my retirement will be. I could buy a healthy plot of land for cash with whats left over from the sale of my home here.
It has its merits. I will say though I would have to be an outsider for the rest of the time I lived there. They really don't trust or care for outsiders.

its changing, just takes a little time to get some roots, earn some trust....the cost of living was an attractive part of moving here

I would move back to the rural Ozarks. I went to highschool there. Still know alot of folks. But I would always be an outsider. Especially with my background.
