LOL thats with the 82nd isnt it? yep IIRC they where we hung out with a few of them. I was in the 23rd eng company that became the C-84th eng company.

I got out in early 2000 and after 9-11 I was missing the Army anyways (wtf was i thinking lol) so I decided to try out the reserves and ended up getting stop lossed for 18 months and sent to Afghanistan lol but I made it back and got to do some really cool stuff.

lol you wouldnt believe the stuff we did over there. I almost rolled a 5ton dump heaped with 30 year old 102 rockets we were hauling up a mountain to blow. Part of our mission at the time besides supporting eod on ied missions was helping them clear out caches of taliban wepons and explosives.

I never went to Afghanistan but Iraq was full of old ordinance.

We worked for 3 months on an old russian training camp that the taliban took over it was about 25 buildings each with 15 to 20 rooms filled to the roof and then blocked up for later use, lots of big booms. Iraq would have been crazy for me its so much more built up than Afghanistan most of the places we went we were taking goat trails and river beds or catching a chinook.

I was In AL Anbar Province. It was mostly rural with little towns. Fallujah was at the east end of our AO and was more of a city. We did lots of driving and they had every kind of IED you can imagine. Obvious ones hidden ones, fake ones with the real one where you stopped when you saw the fake one. Command wire, infa red pressure plate, you name it. Guess its a good way to fight when you know you cant win.
