Well, the gray squirrel down here are really small. Too much gun for them. Should be fine for raccoons and coyotes. Been meaning to bust an armadillo with one, but haven't done it yet.

Hi Vic, have you looked at the Mach 2 that should work well on your tree rats.

The grey squirrel in New York are really big. And we have a big coyote population....I need something that packs more punch than my .22lr

CZ,Marlin, and Savage all make a nice 17 but the CZ are a little more expensive . i like the Henry lever in 17 hmr not the golden boy but their varmint model. but even it will run almost 500.

Got a fluted 17 Mach 2 barrel for my 77/22. I never installed it because that ammo was scarce at the time. I hear it works best if you do head shots (which is not always possible). My favorite round for squirrels in the Remington 22LR subsonic hp. Thumps them just right.

I shot a 45/70 last weekend when i went to see my brother, man i do not need one BUT I WANT ONE now.

Been hunting them since I was a boy. I have four squirrel rifles. I used to shoot metallic silhouette matches just to keep in practice, but now I just use the Henry with CB caps and kill them from my porch.

I have the 94 in 30/30 and have used it on whistle pigs and deer, do not have much use for the 45/70 but i still want one.
