The senator here in Canada is appointed by the Prime minister, and is basically appointed for life (until they retire)
They don't even have to show up to get their cheques
They can block a bill twice then the house of Commons can pass the bill into law without going back to the senate
The number of senators that each province has is enshrined in the constitution
Quebec is guaranteed 25% of the seats no matter how low their population sinks

Well, t1m0, at least your gun laws in Finland are set to be more liberal (in the word's true sense) than the US ones pretty soon. Remind me what they are like again? I seem to recall they are alright and I might just pick up and move there <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif" alt="" />

The electoral college is kinda like the dollar. No substance behind it to truly provide a defense for the common/working people, with all leverage to those who control/manipulate the numbers. I seem to recall they are alright and I might just pick up and move there <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif" alt="" /> The Gun law went bad a year ago. So itīs not liberal. Also the applying of the law by the Police got so strict that the hand gun sales went down to almost zero. Politicians who again donīt know $#/t about shooting and hunting wanted to restrict the laws and permit admitting even more!
