That explains the optics on a shotgun. I was going to point out the price of a good rifle and optics. What about inline muzzleloaders?

I would say you have a scope problem. I only have 1 Nikon scope and it has worked great. At shotgun ranges I think you would be fine with iron sights.

Yep any muzzle exploder. I got my 870 with the sabot barrel and 28 inch vent rib shot barrel for about 375 with rebate. I put a 150 dollar Nikon bdc scope on it

If inline muzzleloaders are allowed and you can use pellet powder they are just as accurate as most modern rifles. Add a scope and as long as you do your part you are golden.

To all the review online I thought my 870 would group about as well but it seems it can't after my experience at the range today I will contact Nikon and Remington and ask some questions

Sounds like a bad scope if the adjustments are off. It happens. Nikon is pretty good about customer service.
