After my uncle passed (i was 13) I refinished the rifle in tribute, but I was careful to preserve his initials that he carved in the stock

YUP. Dad and I never hunted together. But Grandpa used to let me roam the hills with the 20ga Stevens single shot with the hammer you had to [censored]. Grandma even made me an ammo belt out of a pair of grandpas old bib overalls.
