I wouldn't want one for home use as more than me needs to use it, but if there was a good way to do the smart gun I would use one on duty but it would have to be a system that is as reliable as the firearm. I was thinking something more mechanical like a magnetic ring that released a seer.

They have tried a lot of things. The failure rate was no where near acceptable. Until they come out with a phaser what we have is the best bet. Look at the two most popular LE guns on the market. No external safeties. There is a good reason. Simplicity and reliability.

The military tried the simple route also, they are now reconsidering that plan.

Simple is good to a point but skill and familiarity is better.

The Military has to stay simple. Its easier to work with gross motor skills. Thats when you can work on skills. Familiarity comes with the training.

How so?

Great Britain just ordered glocks for their military.
The marines are buying colt M1911s again.

Looks like guns are the topic. I was hesitant to buy s&w at first, but decided to give them a chance. They have come a ways since the 94 ban, not perfect. I enjoy my m&p's and revolvers especially without the internal safeties and glad they brought that option back.

You have never operated a cee tractor then lol, being a combat engineer I saw a completely different side of the military nothing we did was simple. The Marines don't think so either.

The 1911 is simple. The military never fully went away from the 1911. Many units with budgets bought some darned nice ones.
