I want to put a nice sturdy Ghostring/peep sight set up on the reciever. They are fast as all get out close to medium range. Then a medium sized lever loop and you have a nice quick rifle if you keep it in the 20 inch barrel with a full tube.

I know the Rossi's can be made to work well. Lots of cowboy action shooters like them.

i read a good bit on the web over the last few years and never saw any real complaints. haven't seen any other than the rossi ranch hand locally though. the marlin overall looks a little better than the ranch hand to me.

I cant seem to get an answer they want to outlaw anything over 7 rounds so would that include lever guns because most 357s will hold 8 or 9.

It depends on the state. Different laws. Most full tube 357 and 44 mags hold 10 rounds.
